Hawaii Layout

For this project we were tasked with designing a layout for a travel magazine, specifically for Hawaii as the destination. This was an exercise in typography and to practice our layout skills. We were given the body copy and had to incorporate all of it into our design while still having graphic elements to make it visually pleasing. I decide to do a retro theme layout that focused on a playful side of the journey. I wanted the layout to look like a top down photograph of someone’s desk as if they were planning an adventure. I felt that this approach was more interesting than a type heavy layout with a picture or two of the island. Everyone has seen palm trees and beaches. I felt that the postcards and 50’s type nostalgia would be more pleasing to look at.
